Merchandiser Assistant

About the role

Our client, a leading South African manufacturer of specialised workwear and protective clothing, is looking for a proactive Merchandiser Assistant to support the merchandising team in Durban. The role involves coordinating orders, liaising with production and sales, and ensuring accurate documentation throughout the supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the merchandising team with order processing and customer requirements.
• Liaise with production, procurement and sales departments to ensure smooth workflow.
• Track orders, deliveries and production timelines.
• Prepare quotations, purchase orders and merchandising documentation.
• Coordinate fabric, trims, branding and garment specifications.
• Follow up on customer queries, amendments and approvals.
• Maintain accurate records of stock, samples and product information.
• Support planning and monitoring of production schedules.
• Assist with costing, range development and product administration.

Required profile

• Previous experience in merchandising, clothing, textile or manufacturing support (advantageous).
• Strong administrative and organisational abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Good communication skills for client and supplier interaction.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and meet deadlines.
• Proactive attitude and problem‑solving mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Computer literacy with general administrative software.
