Interior Architect - Spa & Wellness Design

About the role

dhk Architects is hiring an Interior Architect who also acts as Interior Designer, Wellness Designer and Business Development officer. The role covers the design, planning and integration of wellness-focused environments across TLEE Spas + Wellness projects, combining architectural and interior design expertise with knowledge of spa and wellness spaces. It leads wellness design from concept through implementation and supports business development in the South African market.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of spa, hydrothermal and wellness facilities from schematic design through construction documentation.
• Develop architectural drawings, plans and details suited to luxury hospitality standards.
• Coordinate with MEP engineers, contractors, fabricators and project teams.
• Translate wellness philosophies (thermal bathing, hydrothermal therapies, holistic treatments) into spatial and architectural solutions, supporting the guest journey and operational flow.
• Advise on materials, finishes and sustainable practices aligned with wellness principles.
• Ensure compliance with building codes and accessibility standards, and oversee construction administration, site visits and punch-list reviews.
• Work with clients, operators and brand partners to fit architectural solutions into larger hospitality or mixed-use projects.
• Mentor junior designers and act as the bridge between the design team and technical consultants.
• Promote TLEE services to developers, architect firms, hotels, resorts and safari lodges, and attend industry wellness and architecture conferences.

Required profile

• SACAP registered architect.
• Strong portfolio of built spa, hospitality or wellness projects preferred.
• Ability to combine creative design intent with constructability and operational efficiency.
• Excellent communicator with a collaborative approach across disciplines.
