Head of Projects

About the role

Our client, a reputable organization in Somerset West, is seeking a results‑driven Head of Projects to lead their project portfolio. This senior position will oversee multiple multi‑million rand projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and management of the company’s project portfolio, supervising project managers and coordinators.
• Plan, execute, and deliver projects within approved scope, timelines, and budgets while maintaining compliance and quality.
• Mentor and develop the project management team to enhance performance and capability.
• Allocate resources, monitor project performance, and manage budgets, cost control, and financial reporting.
• Act as the escalation point for project issues, ensuring timely resolution.
• Negotiate, review, and administer contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring contractual compliance.

Required profile

• Diploma in Project, Construction, Engineering, Business Management or equivalent.
• Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, IPMA).
• 8–12 years of project management experience, including 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record of delivering multi‑million rand projects and leading high‑performing teams.
• Extensive knowledge of contracts management (JBCC, FIDIC, NEC or similar).
• Financial management experience, including budgeting and reporting.
• Fluency in English and Afrikaans.
