About the role
The Assistant Tender Manager supports the Commercial Manager, Tender Manager and Chief Commercial Officer in planning, coordinating, reviewing and submitting tenders, proposals, quotations and other commercial documents. This role is detail‑focused, commercially aware and operates within the construction industry, ensuring that every tender is complete, compliant and competitively presented.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in managing the tender process from opportunity identification through to final submission.
- Review tender documents, summarise scope, mandatory and functional requirements, and prepare internal timelines.
- Allocate tender‑related tasks to relevant departments and monitor progress.
- Coordinate inputs from estimating, quantity surveying, design, operations, procurement, legal, finance, H&S, HR and administration.
- Distribute clarifications, addenda and client communications to appropriate teams.
- Escalate risks, delays or missing information to senior commercial leadership.
- Ensure tender packs are compiled, checked, reviewed and submitted on time.
- Verify completeness, accuracy, formatting and inclusion of all required signatures, stamps and supporting documents.
- Maintain compliance with CIB, B‑BEE, tax, safety, insurance and accreditation requirements.
Required profile
- Detail‑oriented individual with commercial awareness and experience in the construction sector.
- Proven ability to coordinate multi‑departmental inputs and manage tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of tender documentation, compliance requirements and risk identification.
