Assistant Store Manager – Retail (Mall of Africa)

About the role

iStore, Africa’s largest Apple Premium Reseller, is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support the leadership of its Mall of Africa location. You will work closely with the Store Manager to drive performance, deliver an Apple‑inspired customer experience, and develop a high‑performing retail team.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in achieving sales targets, KPIs and operational excellence.
• Deliver an exceptional Apple‑focused customer experience, positioning the store as the go‑to destination for Apple products.
• Assist with daily store operations, including stock management, merchandising and maintaining store standards.
• Coach, train and provide performance feedback to team members.
• Ensure strong product knowledge across Apple devices and services.
• Monitor store performance and help implement strategies to boost sales and engagement.
• Maintain compliance with company policies and operational processes.
• Foster a collaborative team culture and support staff productivity, engagement and retention.
• Be willing to float to other iStore locations as needed.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) required; tertiary qualification in Business, Retail Management or related field advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years experience managing or supervising retail sales teams of 10+ staff.
• Experience in high‑value retail environments with strong retail operations knowledge (stock management, sales reporting, store standards).
• Proven leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced retail setting and adapt quickly to change.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and passion for delivering exceptional experiences.
• Matrix‑management capability to collaborate across business functions.
