Underwriter – Commercial & Domestic

About the role

Our client, a reputable broker in the East Rand, is looking for an experienced Underwriter to manage both commercial and domestic insurance portfolios. The role is ideal for a detail‑oriented, customer‑focused professional who thrives in a dynamic brokerage environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and underwrite commercial and domestic insurance risks in accordance with company guidelines.
• Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with clients and brokers.
• Provide prompt, professional service to address client needs.
• Ensure all underwriting documentation is accurate and complies with regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• Minimum five years’ underwriting experience in a broker environment, covering both commercial and domestic lines.
• Full FAIS accreditation and RE5 certification.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
