Trainee Accountant (SAIPA) – Pretoria

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and career‑driven SAIPA Trainee Accountant to join a professional accounting environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring accountant to gain practical experience, develop technical skills, and work towards completing SAIPA training requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with day‑to‑day accounting and bookkeeping functions.
• Process and capture financial transactions accurately.
• Perform bank, creditor and debtor reconciliations.
• Maintain the general ledger and prepare trial balances.
• Prepare and maintain accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements.
• Handle VAT and other statutory submissions.
• Provide support for accounting and tax‑related queries.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date client records.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting qualification completed or in progress, with interest in SAIPA Articles.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles.
• Previous accounting experience is advantageous.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong numerical and analytical ability.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Eagerness to learn and develop within the accounting profession.
