Tax Manager

About the role

Our client, a specialised tax and financial advisory practice in the East Rand, is seeking a technically strong Tax Manager to join their growing team. The role involves high‑level advisory work on complex local and international tax matters for a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and review corporate, trust, and individual income tax returns.
• Prepare and review provisional tax calculations and tax reconciliations.
• Advise clients on restructures, rollover relief, and tax‑efficient structuring.
• Assist clients with cessation of South African tax residency and cross‑border tax implications.
• Draft technical tax opinions, memoranda, objections, and appeals.
• Provide advice on withholding taxes, double tax agreements, and international tax matters.
• Manage VAT compliance reviews and voluntary disclosure applications.
• Liaise directly with SARS on submissions, disputes, and correspondence.
• Maintain compliance deadlines and mentor junior tax professionals.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting or BCom Taxation (essential).
• 3–5 years post‑articles experience in tax compliance and advisory.
• SAIT membership and TP(SA) designation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of the Income Tax Act, VAT Act, and Tax Administration Act.
• Experience with SARS eFiling, objections, appeals, and correspondence.
• Exposure to cross‑border taxation, trusts, and estate‑related tax matters.
• Technical tax drafting and opinion preparation.
