Supervisor – Plant Production & Nursery Operations

About the role

Sappi is seeking an experienced Supervisor to lead a team responsible for producing and dispatching high‑quality wood‑fibre plants that meet customer specifications. The role focuses on maintaining safe, efficient nursery operations while ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise team members, including performance management, employee relations, timekeeping and disciplinary actions.
• Monitor safety practices, prevent unsafe behaviour and promote a safe work environment.
• Control stock levels of fertilizer, ensure proper watering, and manage pest and weed control measures.
• Oversee seedling selection, sorting and quality checks, and input PQI data into the Sappi PQI Database.
• Prepare and send PQI details for approval before dispatch and generate weekly reports on dispatch and growing sections.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 certificate in a relevant field.
• Minimum two years of experience in a nursery, forestry or manufacturing environment.
• Previous supervisory experience is essential.
