Silo Manager – Grain Storage Operations

About the role

Responsible for the profitable management of the silo in Barkly‑West, Northern Cape. The Silo Manager oversees storage, handling, quality control and movement of grain or other bulk agricultural products, ensuring safe operations, accurate inventory, equipment maintenance and compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor grain flow continuously and report deviations.
• Conduct grain protection through fumigation and temperature monitoring.
• Measure grain tubes according to policy and safety regulations.
• Manage input trade duties and operate the silo per VKB Group policies.
• Oversee inventory, financial and administrative management.
• Maintain infrastructure and general management of the facility.
• Provide customer service and ensure compliance with regulations.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or NQF4 qualification.
• Successful completion of the New Manager’s Program or equivalent.
• 3‑5 years proven industry management experience.
• Relevant grain grading and silo operating certifications.
• Computer literate in MS Office.
• Strong initiative, punctuality and conflict‑management abilities.
• Leadership, decision‑making and excellent communication skills.
