Senior Bookkeeper / Accountant

About the role

BJP Chartered Accountants is seeking a highly organised Senior Bookkeeper / Accountant to join our busy Benoni practice. You will manage multiple client portfolios, ensure accurate accounting records, and lead a small team of junior bookkeepers and data capturers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping and accounting for several clients simultaneously.
• Review and approve transactions processed by junior staff.
• Prepare bank, supplier, customer, VAT and general ledger reconciliations.
• Compile month‑end accounting packs and management reports.
• Identify and resolve errors, inconsistencies and missing information.
• Communicate professionally with clients and internal team members.
• Supervise, guide and support junior staff to maintain high quality work.

Required profile

• Reside within 20 km of Benoni, East Rand.
• Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Proven ability to multitask across several clients and deadlines.
• Experience reviewing work of junior bookkeepers or data capturers.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.
• Comfortable working in a team‑based accounting firm environment.
