Senior Analyst Developer

About the role

PBT Group is seeking a Senior Analyst Developer to join its technology delivery team in Cape Town. The role focuses on designing, building and supporting enterprise applications, cloud solutions and modern software engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug and implement software solutions that meet functional and technical specifications.
• Ensure code follows architectural standards, coding guidelines and best practices.
• Contribute to technical solution design, frameworks and architecture for new applications and interfaces.
• Participate in proof‑of‑concept initiatives and innovation projects, presenting alternative technical approaches.
• Develop cloud‑based solutions using AWS, including serverless architectures, microservices and containerisation.
• Support RESTful API design, integration, deployment planning and post‑deployment support.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, testers, architects and infrastructure teams throughout the SDLC.
• Provide mentorship to junior developers and act as a technical liaison across teams.
• Assist with SQL database design, optimisation and CI/CD automation.

Required profile

• Relevant IT qualification (degree or diploma); BSc or National Diploma in Computer Science is advantageous.
• AWS certification is a plus.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in object‑oriented software development.
• Experience in investment management or financial services is advantageous.

Required skills

• Strong Python development experience.
• Hands‑on experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Proficiency with AWS services and cloud‑native architectures.
• Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices and containerised applications.
• SQL database design and optimisation.
• CI/CD pipeline creation and deployment automation.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted coding tools.
