Retail Planning & Inventory Lead

About the role

The Retail Planning & Inventory Lead is responsible for retail and e‑commerce planning, inventory performance, stock availability and sales/margin analysis across Boschendal’s retail channels. The role combines hands‑on planning with cross‑functional leadership across retail, online, suppliers, stores and operations to ensure the right stock is available at the right time.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage financial targets aligned with business objectives.
• Analyse and reconcile sales, stock levels and on‑order positions across departments.
• Use historical data, seasonal trends and market insights to inform planning decisions and minimise stockouts.
• Monitor operational performance through regular reporting and continuously improve planning models.
• Maintain optimal stock levels across multiple locations, manage replenishment from bulk stores and external suppliers.
• Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, ensure FIFO principles and accurate stock valuation.
• Identify and mitigate slow‑moving or excess stock risks.
• Track and report on KPIs such as sales, sell‑through, margin, waste and online conversion rates, providing actionable insights.
• Support pricing strategies, trade promotions and category performance reviews.
• Liaise with supply chain, bulk stores and operational teams to coordinate stock movement, inter‑departmental transfers and supplier deliveries.
• Drive improvements in stock receiving processes, system usage and support inventory management system enhancements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in retail and e‑commerce planning and inventory management.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret sales, stock and market data.
• Ability to develop financial targets and monitor performance against them.
• Experience coordinating cross‑functional teams including retail, supply chain and operations.
• Detail‑oriented approach to stock accuracy, FIFO compliance and discrepancy resolution.
