Production Team Leader – Manufacturing Plant

About the role

The manufacturing plant in Johannesburg is seeking a Production Team Leader to drive daily operations, ensure product quality, and foster a high‑performance team environment. This role combines hands‑on supervision with strategic planning to meet productivity targets and customer deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the production team by example, promoting a positive and productive culture.
• Supervise workflow, provide training, and support staff to achieve high‑quality output.
• Plan and monitor daily schedules, ensuring productivity targets are met.
• Analyse production data, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements.
• Maintain and enforce quality control procedures to meet required standards.
• Collaborate with technical teams to resolve quality issues promptly.
• Drive cost‑control measures and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Uphold 5S standards, keep equipment clean, and ensure compliance with health & safety regulations.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for consistent operations.
• Handle HR‑related matters such as leave planning and employee queries.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Degree in Operations Management, Production Management or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably in promotional products.
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of production planning, quality control and productivity management principles.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
