Pharmacist – Production Manager (6‑month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

This 6‑month fixed‑term position is for a qualified Pharmacist to lead the production department of a South African vaccine manufacturer. The role focuses on delivering anti‑venom products efficiently while ensuring compliance with national pharmaceutical regulations and Good Manufacturing Practice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily production operations to maximise output of anti‑venom products cost‑effectively.
• Implement and maintain QA processes and SOPs in line with GMP standards.
• Oversee equipment calibration, maintenance and minimise downtime.
• Control assets, Capex and procurement of consumables for uninterrupted production.
• Prepare and review management reports for cross‑departmental communication.
• Coach and develop staff on policy and current GMP requirements.
• Ensure compliance with OHSA regulations to maintain a safe workplace.
• Compile SOPs and production documentation to satisfy GMP regulations.

Required profile

• B.Pharm degree and registration with the South African Pharmacy Council.
• Minimum six years experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, including at least one year in aseptic processing.
• Two years supervisory experience within the industry.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, aseptic techniques, sterilisation methods and validation processes.
• Basic financial understanding and familiarity with OHSA standards.
• Proficient computer literacy and general management capabilities.
