Mid-Weight Retail Copywriter – TTL Campaigns (Food Retail)

About the role

A terrific, in‑office opportunity is available for a highly conceptual Mid‑Weight TTL Retail Copywriter with agency experience to join the creative studio at a leading advertising agency in Cape Town. Working on a major retail brand, you’ll conceptualise and craft compelling TTL work across high‑volume retail campaigns, including weekly leaflets, print advertising, digital campaigns and social media content.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the creative team to develop exceptional copy for ATL, digital and non‑traditional channels.
• Produce a range of copy solutions, from punchy short‑form to persuasive long‑form, based on key messages.
• Interpret creative briefs and develop concepts for assigned retail brands.
• Research client needs and target audiences through online searches, existing research, expert interviews and meetings.
• Write original copy and edit content for marketing and communications materials, including rationales, headlines and radio scripts.
• Present copy concepts and final deliverables, revising based on internal feedback.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification.
• Minimum 3 years’ copywriting experience in retail, alcohol or FMCG for advertising or marketing agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to apply storytelling principles across multiple channels.
• Proven agency, copywriting and retail experience, with capacity to write rationales, motivations, headlines and radio scripts.
• Exceptional writing, research, organisational and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work independently or within a team to meet tight deadlines.
