Mechanical Design Engineer – Mining Infrastructure

About the role

Our client, a boutique engineering consultancy in Perth, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support mining and industrial projects across Australia. You will work under Australian‑based engineers, delivering 3D models, detailed drawings and calculations that meet AS/NZS standards.

Key responsibilities

• Model and draft equipment and plants for comminution, material handling and mineral processing using AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation or similar tools.
• Produce General Arrangements, Mechanical Arrangements and detailed drawings.
• Develop 3D designs with Autodesk Inventor, OpenBuildings and prepare Navisworks models for engineering reviews.
• Perform structural design calculations in SpaceGass and spreadsheets.
• Carry out hydraulic calculations, pipe‑loss analysis and pump selection, as well as pipe stress assessments.
• Apply Australian Standards (AS/NZS) to all design work and collaborate autonomously with minimal supervision.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience, preferably on mining or heavy‑industrial projects.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Standards (AS/NZS).
• Ability to work independently while translating design requirements into technical models.
