About the role
The Mechanic Assistant will support the Fleet Manager and senior mechanics at the Parow branch by performing routine vehicle servicing and maintenance tasks. This role involves hands‑on assistance in the workshop, standby duties and flexible shift work to keep the fleet operational.
Key responsibilities
- Perform daily servicing and maintenance on a variety of fleet vehicles.
- Assist senior mechanics with repairs, inspections and parts replacement.
- Carry out basic workshop duties such as cleaning, tool preparation and inventory checks.
- Provide standby support for emergency breakdowns and after‑hours calls.
- Work on shift patterns, including overtime, to meet operational demands.
Required profile
- 2‑5 years of experience in mechanical work, preferably in vehicle maintenance.
- Clear criminal record.
- Valid driver’s licence (code 10 preferred); own transport is an advantage.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, shifts and overtime.
- Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Required skills
- Vehicle maintenance and servicing.
- Experience with Hino 300 trucks.
- Experience with Toyota Hilux D4D engines.
- Experience with Chevrolet vehicles.
- Experience with MP200 equipment.
