Legal and Compliance Specialist

About the role

The Legal and Compliance Specialist will support BAIC South Africa’s various departments by providing legal advice, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing risk across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in committees and interact with legal counsel and regulatory bodies.
• Conduct audits and develop risk reports with mitigation recommendations.
• Analyse emerging compliance issues and assist with implementation of controls.
• Provide advice to leadership on new or changed policies.
• Interpret and clarify legislative and regulatory changes.
• Submit reports and proposals on risks and compliance matters to leadership.
• Support all departments with legal and compliance services.
• Review company legal documents and provide guidance.
• Participate on the Board of Directors and related committees as a legal professional.
• Conduct training and raise awareness of legislative matters.

Required profile

• LLB qualification with completed Articles and a Postgraduate Certificate in Compliance.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
• Experience in a multinational company is highly advantageous.
• Membership with the Compliance Institute of South Africa or another South African legal institute is highly advantageous.
