Lecturer in Clinical Medical Practice – Health Sciences

About the role

The University of Pretoria invites applications for a Lecturer position within the Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. The role focuses on teaching, assessment, curriculum development, and research related to the Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP) programme.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Mini‑CEX assessments and observed consultations for undergraduate students.
• Deliver interactive lectures, skills training, and clinical supervision for BCMP and other health‑science students.
• Develop, administer and mark examinations, OSCEs, assignments and clinical learning cases (CLCs).
• Participate in curriculum innovation and CPD programmes for qualified Clinical Associates.
• Supervise postgraduate research and mentor students in academic and clinical settings.
• Initiate and contribute to research activities linked to the BCMP programme.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a health‑science discipline.
• Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP) qualification.
• Registration as a Clinical Associate with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Experience in a BCMP clinical environment and at least one DHET‑accredited publication.
• Commitment to further professional development, including pursuit of a doctoral degree.
