IEC Technician

About the role

The IEC Technician will join Afrimat Ash Resources at the Lethabo site, providing hands‑on support for instrumentation, electrical and control systems in a mining/plant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation and control systems on plant equipment.
• Configure, calibrate and maintain VEGA level probes and other level measurement devices such as radar, ultrasonic, guided‑wave radar and capacitive probes.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on instrumentation and control panels.
• Interpret electrical drawings, loop diagrams and P&IDs to ensure correct installation and compliance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports and calibration certificates.
• Liaise with equipment suppliers, including VEGA, for technical support, spares and servicing.
• Participate in standby/on‑call duties as required by the site.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 and a National Diploma or Trade Test Certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in an industrial, mining or plant environment.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Strong fault‑finding, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with VEGA level probes and associated equipment.
• Knowledge of PLC systems, control loops and process instrumentation.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, loop diagrams and P&IDs.
• Proficiency in instrumentation calibration and maintenance.
• Understanding of electrical safety standards and legislation.
