Health & Safety Internship

About the role

This internship offers hands‑on exposure to the practical application of health and safety principles across head office, regional offices and stores. You will support the OHS team while building a solid foundation for a career in occupational health and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments and safety audits at various locations.
• Support the development and delivery of health and safety training programs.
• Participate in incident investigations and help prepare reports.
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents and training.
• Collaborate with departments to promote a culture of safety awareness.
• Assist in preparing safety communications and materials.
• Conduct contractor inspections as required.

Required profile

• Strong interest in health and safety regulations and best practices.
• Matric with SAMTRAC qualification or National Diploma in Safety Management.
• Demonstrated potential to develop safety‑related skills.
• Behaviours: results‑driven, quality‑focused, customer‑oriented, well‑organized, clear communicator.
• Preference given to candidates from designated groups under the Employment Equity Act.

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience using Microsoft Teams for collaboration.
