Guarding Operations Manager – Johannesburg & Cape Town

About the role

The Guarding Operations Manager will lead and oversee security service delivery across Johannesburg and Cape Town, ensuring high‑quality protection for clients and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. You will be responsible for day‑to‑day operational management, risk mitigation and driving business performance within budget. The role requires close collaboration with clients, security personnel and internal departments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of security services in the Johannesburg and Cape Town areas.
• Supervise and coordinate security managers and field personnel, ensuring clear responsibilities and effective performance.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify risks and implement mitigation measures.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, addressing needs and ensuring satisfaction.
• Investigate incidents and complaints, taking corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with HR, Training and other departments to ensure staff are properly trained and equipped.
• Prepare and submit incident, breach and performance reports to senior management.
• Oversee control, maintenance and inventory of company equipment and assets.
• Monitor budgets, control wages and ensure profit margins are met.

Required profile

• Minimum Matric (Grade 12) with a diploma or degree in security management, law enforcement or business administration.
• At least 5 years of senior‑level experience in the security industry, preferably in area or operations management.
• Valid PSIRA certificate, a current driver’s licence and a reliable personal vehicle.
• Proven leadership, communication and interpersonal abilities to guide large teams.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and make informed decisions.
• Flexible availability for nights, weekends and holidays as required.
• Experience in staff management, customer relationship building and incident investigations.
• Knowledge of retail and industrial security environments and budgeting processes.
