Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will own the integrity, accuracy, and governance of the General Ledger and lead the Record to Report (R2R) function. This role ensures month‑end close, financial reporting, reconciliations and compliance are delivered on time, audit‑ready, and provide strategic financial insight to senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee General Ledger accuracy, journal, accrual and adjustment approvals, and team compliance with accounting policies.
• Manage balance‑sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items, and maintain audit trails.
• Coordinate month‑end close activities, enforce the close calendar, and ensure timely delivery of journals, accruals and reconciliations.
• Review and approve P&L and Balance Sheet reporting, delivering accurate management reports.
• Lead financial analysis, variance commentary, and provide insights on performance, risks and opportunities.
• Supervise budgeting, forecasting inputs and cost allocation across cost and profit centres.
• Ensure IFRS compliance, internal controls, risk mitigation and audit readiness.
• Partner with Finance Business Analysts, operational teams and senior stakeholders to support decision‑making.
• Oversee fixed‑asset register, capitalisation, depreciation and reporting where applicable.

Required profile

• Matric/Grade 12 and a 3‑year Accounting degree or diploma (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting/R2R with leadership exposure.
• Strong leadership, attention to detail, analytical thinking and high ethical standards.

Required skills

• SAP or other ERP system experience.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.
• IFRS and technical accounting knowledge.
