Financial Controller

About the role

Our client, a well‑established international insurance group, is seeking a detail‑driven Financial Controller to lead the financial control function across a complex, multi‑entity environment. The role offers full ownership of bookkeeping and reporting processes, ensuring accurate and compliant financial data to support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Take end‑to‑end ownership of financial control and bookkeeping for multiple local and international insurance entities.
• Oversee inter‑company transactions, ensuring accuracy, alignment and timely resolution of balances.
• Prepare and review accounts up to trial balance, maintaining clean general ledgers.
• Lead month‑end close activities, including journals, accruals, pre‑payments and supporting schedules.
• Perform detailed balance‑sheet reconciliations and proactively resolve variances.
• Ensure completeness of key accounts such as bank, VAT, payroll, debtors, creditors and inter‑company balances.
• Coordinate audit processes, providing high‑quality documentation and liaising with auditors.
• Strengthen financial controls and governance frameworks across the group.
• Identify and drive process improvements through systems optimisation and advanced Excel usage.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 7–10+ years of experience in accounting or financial control, preferably within insurance, financial services or other regulated multi‑entity environments.
• Proven track record of full‑function accounting and month‑end close ownership.
• Strong business acumen, analytical thinking and high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (lookups, pivot tables, complex reconciliations).
• Experience with cloud‑based accounting systems.
