Field Service Technician

About the role

The Field Service Technician will install, service, and repair vacuum and blower equipment at customer sites across Cape Town and the wider region. This role combines hands‑on technical work with customer interaction and sales support to drive business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate professionally with customers daily via phone and email.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting and cold calling.
• Generate sales of equipment, spares, service, and repairs.
• Secure service contracts and track previous services to anticipate future needs.
• Promote workshop repair services.
• Conduct on‑site fault finding, problem‑solving, installation, service, and repair of vacuum pumps and related systems.
• Collaborate with the sales team on growth strategies.
• Submit accurate weekly and monthly reports.
• Develop relationships with technicians, engineers, maintenance managers, consultants, contractors, distributors, and end users.
• Provide regular feedback to management and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company procedures.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Qualified Millwright Trade Test (preferred).
• Experience with end‑user repairs and technical knowledge of vacuum pumps, blowers, water pumps, compressors, valves, measuring instrumentation, leak detectors, and other industrial equipment.
• Background in industrial sectors such as food processing, automotive, chemical/pharmaceutical, plastics, medical, water and wastewater.
• Valid driver’s licence and passport; willingness to travel within Africa as required.
