Facilities Manager – Distribution Centre (Durban North)

About the role

The Facilities Manager will oversee all aspects of maintenance, contractor coordination and health & safety compliance for a busy distribution centre in Durban North. The role ensures that the facility operates efficiently, safely and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Manage contractors and monitor repair work progress.
• Control MHE (Material Handling Equipment) misuse and recover related costs.
• Process Toyota invoicing, verify rates and discounts, and handle invoice queries.
• Maintain and update OHS records and schedule OHS training.
• Monitor first‑aid stock levels and ensure kits are available.
• Act as liaison between contractors and the credit department for payments.
• Perform quality control and enforce company standards.
• Prepare and record invoices in the EIR book.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with a relevant diploma, certificate or degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering.
• 7–10 years of facilities management experience, including at least 5 years in a retail distribution centre.
• Strong knowledge of distribution‑centre operating procedures, maintenance schedules and OHS regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Solid accounting and mathematical skills for cost recovery and invoicing.
• Knowledge of MHE operation and maintenance.
• Understanding of OHS standards and implementation.
