Explosives Truck Operator

About the role

The Explosives Truck Operator is responsible for loading blast holes with explosive products using a mixer‑placer truck, ensuring compliance with BME standards and maintaining the truck in safe working condition. This role supports mining operations by delivering precise charge loads to meet blasting specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Receive charging instructions from the Blaster and inspect each blast hole for correct depth.
• Calculate and verify the correct mass of explosive product for each hole.
• Inspect pumps, settings, and product density before commencing the charging process.
• Load holes according to design specifications while adhering to all SHERQ requirements.
• Take product samples, analyse quality, and record results on loading sheets.
• Complete pre‑use checklists, grease schedules, calibrations, and truck performance logs.
• Supervise the Truck Assistant and ensure proper charging procedures.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with Mathematics.
• EC License – Code 14 (EC) and Dangerous Goods & Passengers permit.
• Minimum 3 years of truck driving experience, preferably in a mining environment.
• At least 5 years of experience driving heavy‑duty vehicles.
