Director of Provincial Monitoring & Evaluation (Data Governance & AI)

About the role

The Western Cape Government seeks a senior leader to head provincial‑wide monitoring and evaluation. The role will institutionalise a responsive data and evidence system that underpins decision‑making for improved service delivery and societal outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the province’s monitoring and evaluation framework.
• Develop and embed robust data‑governance structures to ensure data quality, security and accessibility.
• Integrate artificial intelligence and advanced analytics into evidence‑generation processes.
• Provide strategic insights to senior officials to guide policy and service‑delivery decisions.
• Oversee a multidisciplinary team and foster a culture of data‑driven performance management.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., data science, public policy, information management).
• Extensive experience in data governance and artificial intelligence within a public‑sector context.
• Proven track record of senior‑level leadership in monitoring, evaluation or analytics.
