Customer Support Intern

About the role

This 12‑month internship focuses on delivering exceptional support to Sage customers. You will develop an in‑depth understanding of Sage’s product portfolio, including accountant‑specific software, and help customers maximise the value of their current Sage solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of customer calls and provide clear, step‑by‑step solutions to resolve queries on first contact.
• Learn each customer’s business in depth and use that insight to recommend additional Sage products or services that could save time or money.
• Collaborate with the team in daily huddles to discuss performance, share key messages, address challenges and agree on actions.
• Maintain high service standards and ensure quality call standards are always upheld.
• Use effective questioning techniques to gather information and deliver a tailored service that exceeds expectations.
• Continuously develop product knowledge and support colleagues by leveraging Sage learning resources.
• Embrace Sage’s technology‑led culture by engaging with the latest tools and initiatives.

Required profile

• Grade 12 matric certificate.
• Degree or national diploma in Accounting or Business Management.
• Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office.
• Clear criminal record and currently unemployed.
• Excellent telephonic etiquette and good understanding of customers in accounting, payroll & HR environments.
• Strong interpersonal skills, proactive attitude and desire to learn and grow.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
