Cost Controller Assistant

About the role

The Cost Controller Assistant provides administrative and analytical support to the Cost Control function, helping to track costs, capture data, and produce reports that enable effective budget control and financial discipline across mining, processing and support departments.

Key responsibilities

• Capture and update operating and capital cost data in ERP and financial systems.
• Track daily and monthly expenditure against budgets and forecasts, maintaining cost registers, commitment logs and accruals.
• Assist in the preparation and updating of budgets, rolling forecasts and departmental cost inputs.
• Support the production of weekly and monthly cost reports, dashboards and variance analysis.
• Track purchase orders, goods receipts and invoice verification, flagging discrepancies or potential overspends.
• Assist with CAPEX tracking for projects, shutdowns and major maintenance, maintaining project cost summaries.
• Maintain accurate cost codes, cost centres and documentation to support internal controls and audits.
• Liaise with operations and engineering teams to collect cost inputs and improve cost awareness.

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in Finance, Accounting, Cost Management or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in cost control, finance administration or accounting support.
• Basic understanding of operational costs in mining or heavy industry.
• Computer literacy with experience using ERP/financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
• High attention to detail, strong numerical and analytical ability.
