Construction Manager – Bridges & Structural Works

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead on‑site operations for a major bridge and structural infrastructure project in Durban, KwaZulu‑Natal. The role demands deep expertise in bridge construction, strong leadership, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder environments.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all on‑site construction activities with a focus on bridge structures and related civil works.
• Coordinate project schedules to meet milestones and ensure timely delivery.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel, ensuring quality and safety standards are upheld.
• Identify, analyse, and resolve technical and operational challenges as they arise.
• Monitor project performance, report risks, and track deliverables against specifications.
• Ensure compliance with SANRAL standards, FIDIC contracts, and South African bridge/interchange specifications.
• Enforce health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Minimum 25 years of on‑site construction management experience.
• At least 15 years dedicated to bridge construction within the past 25 years.
• Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
• Professional registration (e.g., SACPCMP or ECSA) is mandatory.
• Proven ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams and manage high‑value contracts.
