Commodity Specialist – Procurement & Vendor Management

About the role

The Commodity Specialist will lead the analysis, sourcing, negotiation and management of procurement activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory and BBBEE requirements while aligning with Nedbank's strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse market trends and management information to inform sourcing decisions.
• Support stakeholders with budget forecasting by providing commodity insights.
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies that deliver cost savings through benchmarking and negotiation.
• Ensure procurement BBBEE targets align with the Financial Sector Charter.
• Participate in Nedbank culture and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
• Identify and recommend process, system and policy improvements.
• Conduct tender or quotation processes to select preferred suppliers.
• Draft and finalise contracts in collaboration with Group Legal and stakeholders.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance to meet SLA requirements.
• Monitor procurement and environmental objectives against transformation goals.
• Engage internal stakeholders to capture business requirements and implement sourcing strategies.
• Stay updated on legislation and industry changes affecting procurement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement, sourcing and vendor management.
• Familiarity with BBBEE regulations and the Financial Sector Charter.
• Ability to develop and execute commodity strategies aligned with corporate goals.
• Strong analytical skills for trend analysis and budget forecasting.
• Experience in contract negotiation, tender processes and supplier performance management.
• Knowledge of risk mitigation and regulatory compliance in procurement.
