Chief Protection Officer – Traffic & Safety

About the role

The Chief Protection Officer will lead traffic law enforcement, licensing and road safety activities for the Dannhauser Municipality, ensuring compliance with regulations and supporting community safety initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all traffic law enforcement duties, including operation of law‑enforcement equipment.
• Assist in administration and processing of traffic infringements and attend court matters.
• Conduct investigations of traffic accidents, prepare reports and ensure compliance with road traffic regulations.
• Provide operational support to the Traffic and Safety Unit and supervise sub‑ordinates in the Traffic and Licensing section.

Required profile

• Matriculation plus a Traffic Officers Diploma/Degree (NQF Level 6/7) and current registration with the Department of Transport.
• Minimum five years’ experience in traffic law enforcement or related field.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English and isiZulu.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence, qualification as a NATIS Officer and eligibility for registration as a Peace Officer.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Operation of traffic law‑enforcement equipment and computer literacy for reporting.
