Building Supervisor – Mining Project

About the role

The Building Supervisor will lead all building‑related activities for a world‑class palladium‑rhodium‑nickel‑copper‑gold underground mining project in Limpopo Province. Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will ensure that concrete, brickwork, plastering, roofing, finishes and structural elements are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise on‑site building works, including concrete, masonry, plastering, roofing and finishing trades.
• Verify that all work follows approved drawings, specifications and industry standards.
• Coordinate sequencing of activities to avoid clashes with civil, electrical and other construction disciplines.
• Manage and develop local contractors, providing guidance on drawings, specifications and workmanship expectations.
• Collaborate with the QA/QC Supervisor to inspect work at critical stages and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor progress against the project schedule, flag delays and support corrective planning.
• Control material usage in partnership with the Materials Controller, preventing waste and theft.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to workmanship, sequencing and contractor capability.

Required profile

• Diploma or Degree in Building, Construction Management or a related field.
• 8–10 years of building construction experience in mining, infrastructure or industrial environments.
• Proven track record supervising contractors on large‑scale projects.
• Strong understanding of structural and finishing works.
• Experience in multi‑contractor settings is advantageous.
