Banking Team Leader

About the role

The Banking Team Leader is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Finance Banking team, driving operational efficiencies and fostering a culture of excellence. Reporting to the Head of Financial Operations, this role ensures seamless service to internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day activities of the Finance Banking team and ensure deliverables meet targets.
• Conduct daily cash planning, process insurance receipts, and approve local and foreign payments.
• Maintain accounting journals, reconcile business credit‑card expenses, and provide first‑line support for online banking users.
• Produce accurate month‑end reports, review bank and clearing account reconciliations, and prepare the bank reconciliation dashboard.
• Handle monthly VAT reporting and VAT201 submissions to SARS, and manage year‑end audit deliverables.
• Develop and enforce accounting policies, identify system improvements, and drive efficiency.
• Mentor team members, nurture relationships, and provide general assistance to senior finance leadership.

Required profile

• BCom degree.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in financial operations or banking.
• At least 3 years of people‑management experience.
• Proven experience in process implementation.
• Familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., SAP) is advantageous.

Required skills

• SAP (or similar accounting software).
