Assistant Finance Manager

About the role

The Apex Group is expanding its finance team in South Africa and seeks an Assistant Finance Manager to support multiple entities across the group. You will work within the European finance team while collaborating with regional finance colleagues, reporting to the local Finance Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the month‑end process and ensure timely, accurate management accounts for several entities.
• Oversee client invoicing, aged receivables, accounts payable and related payments.
• Prepare and reconcile monthly accruals, pre‑payments and bank statements.
• Manage cash‑flow analysis, variance analysis against budgets and prior periods.
• Coordinate monthly and ad‑hoc group reporting, including capital adequacy reports.
• Assist with payroll processing, periodic VAT returns and the preparation of financial statements.
• Liaise with auditors during annual audits and handle ad‑hoc finance requests.

Required profile

• University degree in finance, accounting or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to oversee a finance team.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑regional collaboration.
