Applications Engineer – Mining Equipment Solutions

About the role

Metso is looking for an Applications Engineer to join its Pumps Team in Centurion, Gauteng. You will provide technical and application support for pumps, cyclones, valves, and hoses used in mining and mineral processing operations, helping customers improve performance and reduce lifecycle costs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support for slurry pumps, hydro‑cyclones, valves and hoses across mining applications.
• Perform equipment sizing, selection and application evaluations based on process data.
• Review customer process conditions and recommend optimized equipment solutions.
• Support troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis of performance issues.
• Identify competitor replacement opportunities and assist in planning and executing field trials.
• Collect, analyse and interpret trial data, preparing technical reports that demonstrate improvements in wear life, efficiency, throughput, reliability and total cost of ownership.
• Collaborate with customers to minimise operational risks during replacements or trial implementations.

Required profile

• Strong background in mining or mineral processing equipment applications.
• Ability to interpret technical data and translate it into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external customers.
• Proactive attitude towards identifying improvement opportunities.
