Accounting and Tax Specialist – Johannesburg

About the role

As an Accounting and Tax Specialist you will ensure the South Africa affiliate operates with the highest standards of financial accuracy, compliance and control, supporting Novo Nordisk’s mission to serve patients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive financial reporting including annual questionnaires, annual reports, tax reports and audited financial statements in line with IFRS, corporate guidelines and local legislation.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including postings, accruals, provisions, ICQ controls and reconciliations.
• Ensure tax compliance and timely filing of corporate income tax, transfer pricing documentation and tax questionnaires.
• Oversee working capital management through cash‑flow forecasting, accounts‑receivable reconciliations, bank account administration and banking transactions.
• Coordinate critical payment processes such as vendor invoices, expense claims, employee advances and tax payments with Global Business Services teams.
• Act as the primary contact for internal stakeholders, external and internal auditors, banks and tax authorities on all accounting matters.
• Drive process standardisation, share best practices and implement continuous efficiency improvements.
• Provide training and support on financial processes, SOPs and systems, including SAP.

Required profile

• Technically strong finance professional with solid accounting knowledge.
• Experience working with IFRS and local South African legislation.
• Proven ability to manage month‑end and year‑end close cycles.
• Familiarity with tax compliance, corporate income tax and transfer pricing.
• Strong communication skills to liaise with auditors, stakeholders and tax authorities.
