Supervisor Engineering Salvage

About the role

The Salvage Supervisor leads the safe and efficient operation of the salvage yard at South Deep Gold Mine. You will manage material‑car inspections, repairs, and waste handling while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Promote a Zero‑Harm culture by leading safety, health and risk‑management initiatives.
• Ensure all salvage activities comply with relevant codes of practice, regulations and internal procedures.
• Conduct equipment risk assessments, lockout/tagout procedures and other safety checks within the area of responsibility.
• Schedule, assign and monitor daily maintenance, logistical and routine tasks for the salvage team, including Planned Task Observations and coaching.
• Oversee sorting, transportation and environmentally‑compliant disposal of waste material.
• Supervise material‑car inspections, repairs and change‑house operations to minimise production delays.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Recognised Trade Test Certificate in Fitting and/or Boilermaking.
• Minimum 5 years experience as an Artisan, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Proven ability to manage salvage operations and maintenance activities.
• Computer literate – proficient with the MS Office suite.
• Medically fit for the mining environment as confirmed by a risk‑based medical examination.
