Shipping & Receiving Coordinator

About the role

ALS Chemex is looking for a Shipping & Receiving Coordinator to manage inbound and outbound shipments for its Johannesburg laboratory and other ALS sites across Africa. You will ensure smooth flow of goods, accurate documentation, and compliance with safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate intercontinental shipments, schedule deliveries, and resolve any logistical issues.
• Unload, verify, and inspect incoming items against invoices and record any damages.
• Create shipping documents, weigh items, label packages, and handle dangerous goods (TDG) certifications.
• Enter receiving data, update inventory levels, support cycle counts and audits.
• Work closely with drivers, suppliers, carriers, and internal procurement teams to maintain an efficient supply chain.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material‑handling equipment safely while adhering to warehouse safety procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on warehouse and logistics experience.
• Matric (Grade 12) plus a Logistics Management Certificate.
• Valid forklift licence and solid knowledge of health, safety & environmental legislation.
• Physical ability to lift heavy items, walk extensively, and work around machinery and pallets.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong data‑entry skills.
• Experience with inventory software (SAP experience is a plus).
• Forklift operation and certification.
