Senior Professional Nurse – ICU

About the role

The Senior Professional Nurse – ICU supports the Unit Manager in delivering safe, high‑quality care to intensive care patients. The role combines direct patient care with mentorship of new and student nurses, ensuring a positive client experience and clinical risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive and safe patient care while meeting clinical quality standards and mitigating risks.
• Manage the overall client experience within the ICU.
• Ensure optimal staffing levels, retention, and effective utilisation of resources.
• Develop staff competence through continuous assessment, training and mentorship.
• Assist in managing operational expenses, including stock and capital resources.

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification; postgraduate diploma in nursing for specialist units.
• Minimum 3 years of professional nursing experience in a hospital setting.
• At least 1 year of mentorship experience.
• Relevant nursing legislation knowledge and infection prevention and control expertise.
