Senior Client Accountant – Remote (South Africa)

About the role

We are looking for a capable Client Accountant to manage a portfolio of 15–20 Irish SME clients. The role focuses on delivering monthly bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT returns, management accounts and supporting year‑end preparation, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Perform monthly bookkeeping and bank reconciliations for multiple SME clients.
• Prepare and file VAT returns accurately and on time.
• Produce management accounts and maintain tidy working papers.
• Support year‑end financial statement preparation.
• Collaborate with a Client Manager and Senior Accountant, handling day‑to‑day delivery while they focus on advisory work.
• Manage workload independently without needing reminders.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting (or equivalent) minimum qualification.
• 2–4+ years experience in an accounting practice or BPO environment.
• Experience managing multiple SME clients simultaneously.
• Part‑qualified or studying toward a professional qualification (SAICA, SAIPA, ACCA) is a plus.
• Comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Strong Xero accounting software proficiency.
• Experience with full monthly accounting cycle: bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT, management accounts.
