Raisebore Assistant

About the role

The Raisebore Assistant supports the raisebore operator in underground mining operations, ensuring equipment is maintained, safe, and ready for use. This role involves assisting with routine maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns, and adhering to safety and workshop procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Report incidents, accidents, unsafe conditions and acts to supervisors immediately.
• Conduct risk assessments for new or unusual tasks.
• Ensure tools and equipment are in good condition and safely stored.
• Assist with scheduled maintenance, verify availability of spares and tools, and clean machinery after use.
• Support the raisebore operator in maintaining a preventive maintenance program to minimise breakdowns.
• Help diagnose equipment failures, gather required tools and spare parts, and assist with repairs.
• Monitor equipment quality and promptly report any damaged or incorrect items.

Required profile

• Matric certificate or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of underground mining and raisebore experience.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• No criminal record and able to pass SAPS and client screening.
• Medically fit for underground work and willing to work flexible hours and relocate.
