Operations Data Analyst

About the role

Takealot.com, South Africa’s leading online retailer, is seeking an Operations Data Analyst to join its Marketplace Operations team in Cape Town. You will work on solving ambiguous problems, uncovering business opportunities and supporting data‑driven decision‑making across the marketplace.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse large data sets to identify root causes and generate actionable insights.
• Develop and maintain automation workflows, reports and dashboards.
• Validate data accuracy, produce descriptive statistics and support forecasting models.
• Prototype analytics tools for marketplace operations teams.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to translate findings into operational improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Operations Research).
• 2‑4 years of experience in analytics or data‑driven roles.
• Proven ability to work with databases and SQL in a business environment.
• Strong attention to detail and logical problem‑solving skills.
