Legal Advisor – Group Legal Team

About the role

The Group Legal team is seeking a Legal Advisor to provide comprehensive legal and regulatory support across the business. You will act as counsel on compliance matters, draft and review a wide range of agreements, and liaise with regulators and external stakeholders to protect the company’s interests.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal input and opinions during contract negotiations and vet agreements drafted by third parties.
• Draft, review, and negotiate financial‑services related agreements such as retail distribution, service level, portfolio management, and third‑party service contracts.
• Advise on ad‑hoc legal issues, corporate actions, insider information, Companies Act, and Listings Requirements.
• Perform regulatory lobbying, comment on draft legislation, and conduct impact analyses.
• Represent the company at industry workshops and working groups on legislative developments.
• Engage with counterparties in ex‑SA offices and contribute to policy development.

Required profile

• Qualified attorney with experience in financial services or corporate law.
• Strong understanding of South African legislation, regulatory frameworks, and corporate governance.
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex agreements.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with a track record of effective stakeholder management.
