About the role
The Head of OOH will lead Publicis Media Africa’s end‑to‑end Out‑of‑Home practice, combining strategic leadership, market expertise and commercial acumen to modernise and scale the agency’s outdoor offering across South Africa and the wider continent.
Key responsibilities
- Define and implement Publicis Media Africa’s OOH growth strategy, integrating traditional scale with digital transformation (DOOH, data, measurement).
- Oversee planning and execution of out‑of‑home campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand objectives and market trends.
- Map consumer journeys and align OOH touchpoints with broader media strategies from awareness to conversion.
- Identify new growth zones such as township economies, commuter corridors and retail precincts and embed them into client communication plans.
- Maintain and develop trusted relationships with major OOH media holding groups, landlords and concessionaires across airports, roadside, malls, business districts and townships.
- Lead senior‑level commercial negotiations, secure premium inventory, and design volume‑based or multi‑client deals that improve pricing and data access.
- Collaborate with planning, strategy and data teams to ensure OOH placements match audience intent and brand funnel goals.
- Work with finance and procurement to protect margins and ensure operational sustainability.
Required profile
- Proven senior leadership experience in the Out‑of‑Home or outdoor advertising sector.
- Deep knowledge of the South African OOH ecosystem, including key landlords, site clusters and ownership structures.
- Strong commercial negotiation skills with a track record of securing strategic site access and favourable rates.
- Ability to translate complex OOH solutions into clear strategic narratives for CMOs and client boards.
- Strategic thinker who can balance legacy OOH scale with digital innovation.
