Full-stack Software Engineer

About the role

2U is seeking a Full‑stack Software Engineer to join the Xpert Platform team. You will help build and maintain data pipelines, create generative AI experiences, and design robust backend systems that power world‑class digital education.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical design of applications and contribute to system‑wide architecture decisions.
• Design and implement generative AI features using Large Language Models and the OpenAI API.
• Write clean, maintainable, and performant code for both backend (Python) and frontend (React.js, TypeScript).
• Refactor legacy code to improve maintainability and scalability.
• Conduct exploratory and automated testing, and efficiently debug complex production issues.
• Provide technical guidance and feedback to team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in a data‑intensive environment building full‑stack applications.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives from concept to production.

Required skills

• Python (backend development, data processing, AI integration)
• React.js, TypeScript, modern frontend ecosystem (state management, responsive design)
• Experience with Large Language Models and the OpenAI API
