Environment, Health and Safety Manager

About the role

Cox South Africa is seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead the implementation and maintenance of HSE policies across its solar‑thermal projects. You will ensure compliance with legal, contractual and ISO standards while fostering a safe culture for employees and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce HSE policies, manage preventive measures and conduct safety inspections.
• Maintain the HSE management system in line with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and contractual obligations.
• Define and monitor the Preventive Activity Planning (PAP).
• Prepare method statements, risk assessments and support EPC teams.
• Develop and implement the Project Emergency Plan.
• Provide HSE training for staff and subcontractors.
• Manage safety files, work permits and LOTO procedures.
• Investigate accidents and incidents.
• Carry out periodic workplace condition checks and hygienic measurements.
• Participate in health, safety and environmental audits.

Required profile

• Technical or trade diploma in a related field.
• IOSH/NEBOSH recognized international HSE degree or diploma.
• More than 7 years of HSE experience in power/renewables, construction and mining sectors.
• Samtrac certification and SACPCMP registration.
• First‑aid and emergency‑response certificates.
• Proficiency in English.
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet).
