Wind Balance of Plant Contract Manager (Fixed-Term, Cape Town)

About the role

This position leads the design, negotiation and execution of Balance of Plant (BOP) contracts for a 320 MW wind project in Cape Town. You will act as the primary interface between TotalEnergies, BOP contractors and turbine suppliers, ensuring technical and commercial alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Manage relationships with BOP contractors and coordinate with TotalEnergies’ supplier management initiatives.
• Advise on contracting strategy and lead technical/commercial evaluation of BOP proposals.
• Select and negotiate BOP construction and O&M agreements, working closely with legal and technical specialists.
• Liaise with the turbine team to define and contract interface requirements.
• Oversee BOP design reviews from concept through detailed design up to Notice to Proceed.
• Support the Project Director and Engineering Manager in preparing presentations and reports.
• Negotiate additional subcontractor agreements as needed (e.g., met‑mast construction).
• Perform other duties related to the project’s evolving objectives.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc/BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in renewable‑energy, specifically wind projects.
• Strong understanding of split contracts for complex civil and electrical construction.
• Familiarity with wind BOP agreements and turbine‑supplier interfaces.
• Knowledge of relevant technical codes, regulations and standards.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time‑management skills.
• Commercial mindset with ability to optimise technical design and execution.
• Proactive, independent, and able to work collaboratively in teams.
• Willingness to travel and spend time on‑site; valid driver’s licence.
• Fluent English; Afrikaans is an advantage.
